I verbally guide you through a series of gentle movement sequences that are designed to create immediate improvements in personal awareness, posture, balance and flexibility.
You repeat the movements, and I direct your attention to how you move so that you learn how to move more comfortably and efficiently.
The best thing is you learn to use your own comfort as your guide instead of relying on others to tell you what is right for you.

I’m learning how my body prefers to sit and that I don’t have to sit with my stomach in and my back in military posture. I think I have better posture now and my back is straighter and I am now looking more confident in the way I’m sitting.
I’m still attentive but people are relaxing a lot more and I’m not conceding the power in the conversation especially around sponsorship negotiations and it’s making me appear more confident.

I have a pair of shoes I should never wear because they are ridiculously high heeled and I love them to pieces. I wore them … forgetting that I had to walk from one side of town to the other. I have never been able to do that in this particular pair of shoes without my knees getting really, really sore. But by trying to apply some of the things [Janine has] taught me I managed it quite fine. Really, really cool!
Feldenkrais is like wrapping a soft woolly blanket around yourself. I’m learning to take care of myself. I look forward to it every week.
People often ask ‘Is it like yoga? Pilates?’
The short answer is yes and no.
Yes, because we are utilizing attention and awareness.
No, because how we go about it is nothing like Pilates and Yoga.
In fact, we never go to the point of stretch or strain. Rather, we move more and more towards finding appropriate effort and redefining what is easy. As a result it is safe for all ages and abilities.
