Ever tried to get fitter or stronger because you wanted to look after yourself? In the process you injured yourself and ended up on the couch – again!

I’ve always enjoyed walking in the hills around Wellington but took it to a whole new level when I was training for a walking holiday. Unfortunately I did too much too soon and ended up with sore Achilles tendons. I’ve sorted this out by paying attention to how my lower back and legs interact – lengthening not just the hamstrings but also finding out why they shorten in the first place.

Now I am back to walking comfortably in the hills of Wellington – and on the stairs at home. It’s great to be able to look after myself in this way.
